Hello

I’m Izaac, a Technical Artist who enjoys working across all areas of game development, with a special focus on VFX, shaders, and simulations. This is my space to share the projects I’ve created and the skills I bring to the table.

My Story

Early Years
I’ve always been drawn to creating things on the computer. As a teenager, I spent countless hours experimenting with Autodesk 3ds Max, working through tutorials and teaching myself how to build 3D models. Back then, I didn’t think of game development as a career option, it was simply something I loved to do.

A Different Path

At 16, I left high school after year 10 to pursue a career as a chef. It was a bold step that taught me discipline, teamwork, and how to perform under pressure. While I gained a lot life from that experience, I knew my real passion still lived in digital creation.

Discovering Games as a Creative Outlet

After suffering spinal injuries that changed the way I could live my life, I needed something new, something less physical to keep my mind engaged and distracted from the pain. That’s when I turned to modding my favourite games. What began as a way to pass time quickly grew into a passion that deepened my love for digital art and introduced me to programming.

I started teaching myself code by reading and writing it line by line, learning through trial and error. Curiosity soon developed into a real skill set, and before long, other modders were reaching out to me for programming help. Until then, I had never seen game development as a possible career, it was simply something I loved doing for fun. This was the moment I realised it could be more than just a hobby; it could be my future.

Commitment to Game Development
Eventually, I made the decision to commit fully to being a game developer. I began building my portfolio, taking on projects that pushed my technical and creative skills.  I set about putting myself back through tertiary study to first get a GPA, so I could then enrol myself into a Games course at University. As of writing this today, I’m studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Games and Interactive Environments at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) - Australia, and I'm all set to complete it at the end of this year (2025).

Where I Am Now
Game development isn’t just a career path for me, it’s become part of who I am. I’m constantly experimenting, learning, and creating, driven by the same passion I had as a teenager first opening up 3ds Max. This journey has been both challenging and rewarding. I'm all set to finish my Bachelor's degree at QUT at the end of 2025, with about 8 weeks left and only a few assignments left, I’m excited for the opportunities that lay ahead.

The Skills That Come With the Passion

While I've been describing myself as a Technical Artist, this is mostly because my experience spans nearly every facet of game development. Over the years, I’ve built skills in programming, texturing, 3D modelling, UX/UI design, shaders, project management, rigging, animation, simulation, and sound design, I actually enjoy all of it! I’m fluent in tools and software like Unity, Unreal, Maya, 3ds Max, Substance Painter & Designer, 3D Coat, Bifrost, Git, and I’m comfortable with languages and systems including C#, AngelScript, HLSL, GLSL, Shader Graph, Niagara, and VFX Graph. Put simply, if you can name a part of game development, I’ve likely done it. I’m confident I can adapt to and contribute in any area of development, with the possible exception of 2D art, though I can give it a good go.
